Thesis exposé for master's theses in SS 2023

Master of Architecture/ Master of Urban Planning Summer Semester 2023

Thesis Exposé

Points of Contact | Prof. Agnes Förster, Dr. Robin Chang

Students, who are interested in conducting their master thesis work with an urban planning focus at the Chair of Planning Theory and Urban Development, are offered guided support in the creation of their thesis Exposé during each semester

The creation of the thesis exposé is not only a prerequisite for the acceptance of students’ work on a graduate thesis at the Chair of Planning Theory and Urban Development, it is the opportunity for students to development design or analytical research questions and tasks for a self-selected topic. In the thesis exposé, students are expected to determine the content of the thesis, the methodological procedure, and the exact submission requirements.

In the current MPO study regulations (MPO 2019), the preparatory exposé is integrated into the master's thesis as a mandatory component. In the study regulations MPO 2016, the thesis exposé is included as an Impromptu module. The module must be taken before the semester in which the Master's thesis is to be completed, but can also be recognized in the same semester during which the thesis is written.

Students are offered two advisory sessions to exchange ideas on their various topics with each other and with their supervisors. This form of guidance supports the content and methodological development. For the latter, a scientific workshop on the basics of scientific work is offered.
